What compound does citronella contain that makes it effective being a natural mosquito repellent?
Citronella contain the compounds citronellol, citronellal and geraniol. Do note that there are various species of citronella and hence the compositions of these compounds will differ. These compounds mask the carbon dioxide that we emit and the lactic acid scents that mosquitoes are searching for.
